With all this newer technology, the safety rating increased from the 2015 model to a 9.5, and it achieved an overall score of 8.1. It ranked #9 in U.S. News’s “2018 Affordable Compact SUVs” list. The 2018 Equinox gets 22-28 mpg in the city and 28-39 mpg on the highway with a 137-252 horsepower engine, making it more fuel-efficient than the previous generation.
